Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal is all set to portray the legendary Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming biopic Sam Bahadur. The film, which is slated to release on December 1, 2023, will showcase the life and achievements of one of India’s greatest war heroes.
Vicky Kaushal starts countdown for Sam Bahadur

The image features Kaushal in his Sam Bahadur avatar, sporting a moustache and a uniform. The film also stars Sanya Malhotra as Manekshaw’s wife Silloo and Fatima Sana Shaikh as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film’s trailer, which was launched at the Manekshaw Centre in Delhi on November 8, received rave reviews from the audience and the critics alike. The trailer showcases Manekshaw’s career of over 40 years, from fighting in World War II to being the Chief of Army Staff during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war, that led to the creation of Bangladesh.

Kaushal’s performance as Sam Bahadur has also impressed his fellow actors and celebrities, who took to social media to praise him and wish him luck. The Fighter actor commented “Fab” while the Jaane Jaan star penned, “Goosebumps”.
Sam Bahadur marks Kaushal’s second collaboration with Meghna Gulzar after Raazi, which was also a critically acclaimed spy thriller based on a true story. The film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies and has music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and lyrics by Gulzar. The film is expected to be a tribute to Manekshaw, who was the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal and who is widely regarded as one of the finest military leaders in the world.
