Vicky Kaushal: From Udham Singh, Sam Manekshaw To Chhava, The Actor Who Portrays Real Life Heroes

Vicky Kaushal, the National Award-winning actor, has proved his mettle in playing real-life characters on the silver screen. From a freedom fighter to a war hero, he has brought to life some of the most inspiring and intriguing personalities of Indian history.

His film, Sardar Udham, directed by Shoojit Sircar, was a biopic of Udham Singh, who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab, in London in 1940, as an act of vengeance for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919. Kaushal’s performance as the revolutionary was widely praised by critics and audiences alike, who lauded his nuanced and intense portrayal of the complex character. The film, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on 16th October 2021, was been hailed as one of the best biopics of recent times.

Kaushal’s next biopic is Sam Bahadur, directed by Meghna Gulzar, in which he essays the role of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, the chief of the Indian Army during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The film, which is slated to release on 1st December in theatres, is expected to be a tribute to the military legend, who is regarded as one of the greatest soldiers of India. The teaser and posters of the film have already generated a lot of buzz among the fans, who are eager to see Kaushal’s transformation into the charismatic and courageous leader.

Kaushal is also gearing up for another biopic, Chhava, directed by Laxman Utekar, in which he plays Sambaji Rao, the son and successor of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire. The film, which is based on the novel of the same name by Vishwas Patil, will chronicle the life and achievements of Sambaji, who fought against the Mughal invasion and expansion in the 17th century. The film, which is currently in the pre-production stage, is expected to go on floors soon.

The actor shared a picture after workout on his Instagram earlier today. The actor is reported to be preparing for his upcoming Chhava.

Vicky Kaushal, who made his debut in 2015 with Masaan, has come a long way in his career, and has established himself as one of the most versatile and talented actors of his generation. He has also won accolades for his roles in films like Raazi, Sanju, Uri: The Surgical Strike, and Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. He has also been in the limelight for his personal life, as he tied the knot with actress Katrina Kaif in a private ceremony in Rajasthan.
