Did you know that Pathaan director Siddharth Anand once chased Shah Rukh Khan for a courtroom drama? In a recent interview with Mayank Shekhar, Anand shared his long-standing ambition to work with the superstar.
Siddharth Anand Wanted To Make A Courtroom-Based Film With Shah Rukh Khan
The filmmaker mentioned, “A film I was dying to make was a courtroom film. I also chased Shah Rukh Khan in 2011-12 to make it with him. He didn’t say no but he didn’t say yes either (laughs)!”
Anand has kept the script for the film and is still eager to bring it to life. “I still have the script and I keep teasing him about it. It’s a film that I am still dying to make,” he added.
The bond between Anand and Khan is strong, and the director is hopeful that they will collaborate on this project one day.

On How He Shifted From Romance To Action
Siddharth Anand’s journey in cinema has seen a significant shift from romance to action. He recalled how this transition began after making Anjaana Anjaani in 2010. “I was looking to make my next film when the 20th Century Fox team came to my office and offered me the remake of Knight and Day,” he explained.
The original film had not yet been released, but Anand was instantly drawn to the idea. “I was surprised, like why would they think of me for an action film (laughs)?”
He adapted the Hollywood movie into Bang Bang (2014). Anand said, “I loved the idea and it gave me the chance to do something different. I love scale. All my films, which were love stories, had a certain kind of scale. Bang Bang gave me the opportunity to do something very different and scale it up.”
Siddharth Anand Has Exciting Projects Ahead
Looking forward, Anand and his wife, Mamta Anand, are busy developing a lineup of seven films for their production house, Marflix. This slate includes several intriguing projects. One is Jewel Thief, featuring Saif Ali Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat.
Another is King, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan. There’s also Krrish 4, led by Hrithik Roshan.
In addition to these, they are working on an untitled action drama directed by Milan Luthria, a female-led action film, and a movie inspired by the life of Shri Shri Ravi Shankar.
Anand is also gearing up to direct a project that will unite two big superstars. The script is ready, and casting is set to start soon, with production expected to kick off in 2025.
