Actress Vidya Balan has taken legal action against an unknown person who created fake email, Instagram, and WhatsApp accounts in her name and used them to solicit funds from people in the film industry by offering them work opportunities in Bollywood. Balan filed a First Information Report (FIR) with the Khar Police under the Information Technology Act.
Vidya Balan was made aware of the scam by a designer
The fraud was discovered when an industry contact informed Balan about messages they received from someone pretending to be her, expressing interest in working together and suggesting discussing it further if the designer was interested.
According to Hindustan Times, an official from the Khar Police said, “This designer immediately contacted the actress to alert her that someone claiming to be her had texted him. Balan was informed about similar activities being done over e-mail as well as on Instagram by other industry contacts.” The unknown person allegedly demanded money from some people.
The police have taken action against the unknown imposter based on the complaint, citing relevant sections of the Information Technology Act. They are now investigating further.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 will see return of Vidya Balan as Manjulika
Balan, who was last seen in Neeyat, will return as Manjulika in the hit franchise Bhool Bhulaiyaa. The much-anticipated third installment of the series, starring Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri, is all set to go on floors soon.
Vidya Balan will reprise her role as the possessed dancer who haunts the ancestral mansion. Kartik Aaryan will play a psychiatrist who tries to solve the mystery of Manjulika.
Last week, Kartik shared a montage of scenes from ‘Ami Je Tomar’ dance that was performed by him in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 as well as the OG Vidya Balan’s iconic performance from Bhool Bhulaiyaa.
Posting the video on his Instagram handle, Kartik Aaryan wrote, “And its happening Og Manjulika is coming back to the world of BhoolBhulaiyaa Super thrilled to welcome @balanvidya ❤️This Diwali is going to be crackling #BhoolBhulaiyaa3 @aneesbazmee @tseries.official #BhushanKumar.”
