Director Vikas Bahl is all set for his next big project, and it’s an exciting one. He is reportedly helming the official Hindi remake of the Oscar-winning Hollywood film, CODA. For this comedy-drama, Bahl has signed a fresh new pairing: Raghav Juyal, who is currently winning praise for his role in The Ba***ds of Bollywood, and Salman Khan’s niece, Alizeh Agnihotri.
The Surprising Sanjay Leela Bhansali Connection
Here’s the interesting twist that has movie buffs buzzing. The story of CODA, which itself was a remake of the French-Belgian movie La Famille Bélier, shares a strong resemblance to one of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s earliest directorial ventures, the 1996 classic Khamoshi: The Musical. That film, which starred Salman Khan, Manisha Koirala, and Nana Patekar, also told the story of a young woman who is the only hearing member of her deaf family and dreams of a career in music. This thematic connection to an iconic Bollywood film makes Bahl’s remake even more special for the Indian audience.
Big Projects Put On Hold
It seems this new film has become Vikas Bahl’s top priority. As a result, fans who have been eagerly waiting for the sequels to his blockbuster films, Queen 2 and Shaitaan 2, will have to wait a bit longer. Reports suggest that these highly anticipated projects are unlikely to go on floors before late 2026 or early 2027. However, another one of Bahl’s upcoming films, tentatively titled Dil Ka Darwaaza Khol Na Darling, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Wamiqa Gabbi, is still on track for an early 2026 release.
A Rising Star Cast
The casting of Raghav Juyal and Alizeh Agnihotri brings a fresh energy to the project. Raghav has been steadily making his mark as an actor and is currently in the spotlight for his work in Aryan Khan’s series. He also has big projects like Shah Rukh Khan’s King in his lineup. Alizeh Agnihotri, who made her debut recently, is another promising young talent. Their pairing in a story with such emotional depth is something audiences will surely look forward to.
