Netflix India has released the trailer of its upcoming original film Khufiya, a neo-noir spy thriller directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and starring Tabu, Ali Fazal, Wamiqa Gabbi and Ashish Vidyarthi. The film is based on true events and is adapted from a book titled ‘Escape to Nowhere’, written by former Chief of the Counter Espionage Unit of R&AW, Amar Bhushan.

The trailer of Khufiya is a gripping and intriguing glimpse into the world of espionage, spies, chase and confrontation. It showcases the stellar performances of Tabu and Ali Fazal, who face off each other in a hide and seek. The trailer also reveals some of the chase sequences, the locations, the music and the supporting cast of the film.
The film follows the story of a R&AW agent named Krishna Mehra (Tabu), who is assigned to track down a mole (Ali Fazal), who is selling India’s Defense secrets. The agents begin spying on him, monitoring each and every aspect of his life, including his wife (Wamiqa Gabbi). But is he really a ‘deshdrohi’ as the world believes or is there something more sinister afoot? The trailer shows glimpses of their hunt, betrayal, chase and confrontation.
‘Khufiya’ boasts of a stellar cast: Tabu, Ali Fazal, Wamiqa Gabbi
Tabu and Ali Fazal are the main leads of the film. Tabu is known for her versatile and powerful performances in films like Maqbool, Haider, Andhadhun and Drishyam. Talking about playing the role of a R&AW agent, Tabu said, “I am so happy to be once again working with my favorite director Vishal Bhardwaj as we reunite for the third time after Haider and Maqbool. Vishal’s unique vision and storytelling have always intrigued me, and Khufiya is no exception. Super excited for Netflix audiences to watch Khufiya on 5 October.”
Ali Fazal is an actor who has appeared in films like Fukrey, Victoria & Abdul, Mirzapur and Death on the Nile. This is the first time they are sharing screen space together. Wamiqa Gabbi plays the role of Ali Fazal’s wife. She is a popular actress, who has also acted in recently released show on Prime, Jubilee. Ashish Vidyarthi plays the role of the head of R&AW who assigns Tabu the mission. Ashish is a veteran actor who has worked in various languages and genres and Azmeri is a Bangladeshi actress and model, who has won several awards for her work in television and films.
