Vivek Agnihotri is known for his unflinching portrayal of harsh realities. The filmmaker is once again ready to take on uncomfortable truths with his upcoming film The Delhi Files.
The filmmaker, whose previous works The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files gained significant attention, is now focused on uncovering the untold stories of Bengal, particularly the ongoing crimes against Hindus and women in the region.
Vivek Agnihotri Highlights Recent Bengal Rape & Murder Incident
In his social media post, Agnihotri shared a chilling newspaper clipping. It details the gruesome murder of a tribal girl in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal.
The young girl’s body was discovered floating in a pond, bound and gagged. Agnihotri, who has always addressed such uncomfortable subjects in his films and public statements. He promised to reveal the untold stories of brutal crimes in Bengal.
He wrote, “From Direct Action Day to the present, the brutal crimes against Hindus, especially hapless women, have not stopped. For too long, the gruesome and painful story of Bengal has remained untold. Not anymore. #TheDelhiFiles will reveal the truth like never before. I promise.”

This comes as part of Agnihotri’s campaign for The Delhi Files, which aims to shine a light on hidden, real-life atrocities. The film is expected to be a hard-hitting exploration of ongoing injustices, with the first part set to be released on August 15, 2025.
The Delhi Files To Release In Two Parts
In October, Agnihotri revealed that the film will be made in two parts. The 1st part is titled The Delhi Files – The Bengal Chapter & promises to dive deep into the complex and painful history of violence and suppression in the region. The plot details are being kept under wraps for now, but the anticipation around the film is already high.
Agnihotri has never shied away from tackling controversial topics. His 2022 film The Kashmir Files depicted the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from their homeland following a series of brutal attacks by terrorists in the late 1980s.
The Tashkent Files (2019) explored the mysterious death of India’s former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri in 1966. With The Delhi Files, Agnihotri is once again aiming to bring dark, painful truths to the forefront. He promises to expose the real stories behind incidents that have long been ignored or hidden.
Produced by Abhishek Agarwal Arts and Agnihotri’s wife, Pallavi Joshi, The Delhi Files will explore significant themes of violence, injustice, and the plight of those whose stories have been silenced.
