The upcoming film Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video (VVKWWV), featuring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, is creating a stir ahead of its October 11, 2024, theatrical release.
Directed and written by Raaj Shaandilyaa, the comedy will also be available on OTT, a couple of months after its run in cinemas.
Produced by T-Series Films, Balaji Motion Pictures, Wakaoo Films, and Kathavachak Films, the movie promises to blend humour and drama with its unique premise.
VVKWWV To Stream On THIS Digital Platform
After its release in theatres, this Rajkummar Rao starrer will premiere on Netflix within two months.
The plot centres around newlyweds Vicky and Vidya, who decide to record their first night together as a keepsake. However, their intimate moment quickly spirals into chaos when the CD containing the footage is stolen. The couple embarks on a frantic mission to recover the video before it’s exposed, leading to a hilarious and dramatic series of events.
CBFC Issues U/A Certificate To The Film After Several Modifications
Despite its comedic tone, the film’s content raised some eyebrows, prompting the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to make a few edits. The CBFC requested the removal or muffling of certain terms like “Vakeel,” “Sardaar,” “UP Police,” and “Gurudwara.” They also censored stronger language, such as “Haramipana,” during a crucial scene.
An anti-smoking message was added within a smoking scene as per standard guidelines, and the movie ultimately received a U/A certification on October 7. The runtime of the film is two hours, and thirty-two minutes.
Raaj Shaandilyaa Recently REACTED To Accusations Of Plagiarism
VVKWWV has also been the subject of controversy. Producers Sanjay Tiwari and writer Gul Bano Khan have accused the film’s makers of stealing the concept from their original script, Sex Hai Toh Life Hai.
They claim to have registered their idea with the Screen Writers Association (SWA) back in 2015 and have sent a legal notice to producers Bhushan Kumar, Ektaa R Kapoor, and the rest of the team.
Raaj Shaandilyaa, who co-wrote the screenplay with Yusuf Khan, has firmly denied the allegations. In response to the legal notice, he said, “These allegations are not true at all. We have not stolen anybody’s concept.”
According to Shaandilyaa, the film is a work of fiction inspired by various news articles about similar incidents that occurred between 1994 and 2000. He explained that many real-life stories serve as inspiration for the film, and the plot is a reflection of those events. “How can someone claim that it is their story?” Shaandilyaa questioned, defending the originality of his work.
