The anticipation in the Hindi film circuit for Hrithik Roshan’s War 2 is massive. The film, which brings Roshan back into the YRF Spy Universe, is one of the most awaited movies across the nation. Fans of the franchise are eagerly looking forward to the Independence Day 2025 weekend when the film is set to hit the big screen.
However, recent reports suggested that the same weekend would also mark the release of Rajinikanth’s upcoming pan-India film Coolie. While this could have divided the audience, particularly in the Hindi belt, it is now being reported that the makers of the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial are planning to push Coolie’s release date to avoid a clash with War 2.
War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, is a part of Aditya Chopra’s blockbuster YRF Spy Universe. The franchise already includes War, the Tiger trilogy, Pathaan, and upcoming films like War 2, Pathaan 2, Pathaan Vs Tiger, and Alpha. With War 2 being mounted on a grand scale, the buzz around it is immense. Meanwhile, Coolie, which has been in production for a while, stars Rajinikanth in the lead and is among the most anticipated pan-India releases, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
Now, according to AndhraBoxOffice.com, the clash between War 2 and Coolie is being avoided. Reports suggest that after multiple discussions, both production teams have agreed to release their films on separate weekends. If the makers of War 2 manage to secure the Independence Day weekend in August 2025, Coolie will shift its release. The conversation is still ongoing, and the report also claims that the makers of Coolie are actively seeking distributors to ensure a proper pan-India release.
Hrithik Roshan Suffers Leg Injury During War 2 Prep
A few months ago, reports surfaced that War 2 would feature a high-energy dance number where Jr. NTR and Hrithik Roshan would face off. This news created excitement as both actors are known for their exceptional dancing skills, with Jr. NTR even having an Oscar-winning song (Naatu Naatu from RRR) to his credit. However, the latest update suggests that Hrithik Roshan has suffered a leg injury while rehearsing for the dance sequence, leading to a delay in its shoot until May.
According to Bollywood Hungama, a source revealed: “Hrithik really pushed himself during the rehearsals for this energetic song with Jr. NTR in War 2. He developed a niggle in his leg, which became quite uncomfortable. After medical inspection, doctors advised him not to risk further injury and to rest before shooting this massive dance number!”
The source further added: “The mega War 2 dance-off featuring Hrithik and Jr. NTR will now be shot in May. All principal actors have completed their respective shoots, and the film is already in post-production. This minor setback will not affect the film’s promotional or marketing plans. War 2 is on track for its worldwide theatrical release on August 14, 2025!”
