The Hera Pheri franchise is finally getting its much-awaited threequel. Priyadarshan directed the first film & is now leading the project. But before this, there was another plan.
Earlier, Farhad Samji was set to direct and reports claimed Kartik Aaryan would take over Akshay Kumar’s role. This caused confusion among fans, especially after Paresh Rawal confirmed Kartik’s involvement. Now, Rawal has cleared the air.
Was Kartik Aaryan Ever Replacing Akshay Kumar?
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Paresh Rawal addressed the rumours about Kartik’s role in Hera Pheri 3. He confirmed that Kartik was indeed considered but was never meant to replace Akshay.
He shared, “Vo kahani alag thi tabhi, isko Raju samajh kar pakad kar laaye the, ye alag hi kirdar tha. Kahani ye thi, mere ko jitna pata hai, poori kahani to maine nahin suni thi.” (That was a different story then, and he was brought for the role of Raju, but it was a different character. This was the story as much as I know. I hadn’t listened to the entire script.)
This means Kartik’s character was not a direct replacement for Akshay’s Raju. Instead, he was playing a different role in the earlier version of the film.
Two Major Changes For Hera Pheri 3
The first big change for the threequel is that Priyadarshan is now directing the film. Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal are expected to reunite, making it a true comeback for the trio. The new script promises to stay true to the original films while adding a modern touch.
Another big change is that the previously scrapped version had a different storyline, and its status remains unknown. But now, with a fresh team on board, it will be interesting to see how Priyadarshan brings back the comedy classic.
Hera Pheri is one of Bollywood’s most beloved comedy franchises. The first film, released in 2000, became a cult favourite. Its 2006 sequel, Phir Hera Pheri, was also a blockbuster. Now, with the third film back on track, expectations are at an all-time high.
The final details about the cast and story are yet to be revealed. But Akshay Kumar’s return as Raju has already built major hype.
