Kartik Aaryan’s name has been in the headlines several times in the last several months, but not for good reasons. The actor made waves after being cut from Karan Johar’s Dostana 2, the sequel to the 2008 comedy starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, John Abraham, and Abhishek Bachchan. Colin D’Cunha is directing the film, which also stars Janhvi Kapoor and Lakshya Lalwani, and the team is now looking for a replacement for Kartik.
Following that, he made headlines for missing out on Shah Rukh Khan’s film Freddy, in which he was set to act alongside Katrina Kaif. According to rumors, the split was caused by screenwriting disputes between Kartik and the film’s producers. Later the rumors began to circulate that Kartik had lost out on another film with Aanand L Rai and had been replaced by Ayushmann Khurrana, but a spokeswoman for Colour Yellow Productions quickly debunked the claims, saying that they were false.
Kartik, on the other hand, appears to be unfazed by the news and is taking it all in stride. He now appears to be concentrating on his other upcoming ventures. Last year, it was stated that Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, the 2020 Telugu box-office hit starring Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde, would be remade in Hindi. Kartik was expected to be cast as the starring man, filling Allu Arjun’s shoes.
With the second wave hitting the country, those plans may have been postponed but it appears that Kartik is ready to start filming, and perhaps he has given us an insight into the preparation for it as well.
Kartik released a video on Instagram today of him dancing with choreographers Piyush Bhagat and Shazia Samji to the chartbuster from Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, Butta Bomma. On its debut, the song, which featured Allu Arjun and Pooja, became a rage in the South business, garnering over 600 million views on YouTube.
On the work front, Kartik Aaryan is awaiting the release of his Netflix feature Dhamaka, which is directed by Ram Madhvani. He also has Anees Bazmee’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 alongside Kiara Advani and Tabu.
