The Christmas 2024 film lineup is changing. New reports suggest that Aamir Khan’s highly anticipated Sitaare Zameen Par may not meet its December 20 release date. It seems Hollywood’s Mufasa: The Lion King might have the festive spot all to itself.
Directed by RS Prasanna, known for Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Sitaare Zameen Par is running into post-production delays. The film was originally slated for a pre-Christmas release, but it seems it won’t be ready in time. Although no official decision has been made yet, insiders suggest the film will likely miss its December debut.
Sitaare Zameen Par Release To Delay By 3-Months?
A source close to the production told Peeping Moon, “Aamir is thrilled with how the film is turning out. But post-production needs more time to meet his high standards. Aamir, being the perfectionist he is, would rather delay the release than compromise on quality. We’re looking at a possible delay of at least three months.”
Adding to the buzz, Jio Studios, a co-producer of Sitaare Zameen Par, has already planned another film, Varun Dhawan’s Baby John, for the same Christmas weekend, December 25, 2024. This shift comes after Akshay Kumar’s Welcome to the Jungle also postponed its release due to production issues.

Sitaare Zameen Par is an Indian remake of the Spanish film Campeones. The story follows an arrogant basketball coach who, sentenced to community service, forms a Special Olympics team with players who have intellectual disabilities.
The film explores his personal growth as he learns to appreciate the true meaning of “normal.” Genelia Deshmukh stars as the female lead, and the supporting cast features real-life athletes with disabilities to add authenticity to the film.
