Tamil filmmaker Arun Matheswaran (known for his raw and intense storytelling) is gearing up for his Bollywood debut. The Captain Miller director is planning a high-octane action thriller and Akshay Kumar might take the lead.
Akshay Kumar In Talks To Lead Arun Matheswaran’s Action Thriller
Matheswaran has made a mark in Tamil cinema with films like Rocky and Saani Kaayidham. Now, he is looking to bring his signature storytelling to Hindi audiences. A Peeping Moon report reveals that the project is still in the scripting phase, but insiders reveal that Akshay has shown interest. A final decision is expected after a detailed narration in mid-2025.
The film is backed by Sarita Ashwin Varde, who has produced web series like Broken But Beautiful. This marks her entry into theatrical film production. Her husband Ashwin Varde has worked with Akshay on multiple projects, which makes this collaboration highly likely.
If everything falls into place, Akshay will begin shooting for Matheswaran’s film after finishing his current commitments.
Akshay’s Upcoming Releases
He is currently filming Priyadarshan’s horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, followed by Welcome to the Jungle. After that, he will team up with Fukrey director Mrigdeep Singh Lamba before moving on to Hera Pheri 3, which starts filming in December 2025.
Akshay’s next big release is Kesari Chapter 2, which hits cinemas on April 18. This will be followed by Housefull 5 on June 6 and Jolly LLB 3 later in 2025.
