Yami Gautam Dhar’s Nayyi Navelli Trailer Unleashes A Fantasy Family Entertainer Before Its October 16 Release

Yami Gautam Dhar is stepping into festive season territory with a distinctly offbeat twist. On September 30, Amazon MGM Studios and Colour Yellow unveiled the trailer of Nayyi Navelli, a fantasy family entertainer that places Yami at the heart of a “Bhabhi Daayan Hai” mystery, blending domestic chaos, humour and a growing sense of the supernatural. The film is scheduled to release in cinemas across India on October 16, 2026, just ahead of Dussehra.

Set in Meerut, Nayyi Navelli follows the arrival of Mohini, the new bahu of the Awasthi family, whose entry into the household turns an already eccentric family setup into something far stranger. The trailer leans into wedding rituals, noisy family dynamics and mounting suspicion, while keeping its biggest reveals under wraps. That balance of mischief and mystery gives the film a mass-friendly festive pitch without abandoning its fantasy core.

Trailer Puts Mohini At The Centre Of The Mystery

The makers are presenting Nayyi Navelli as a large-scale family entertainer with a strong genre spin. Directed by Balaji Mohan and written by Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma, the film also stars Addinath M Kothare, Anurag Thakur, Sunita Rajwar, Mita Vasisth, Aaditya Kulshreshth, Susmita Mukherjee and Prateek Pachori in pivotal roles. It is produced by Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma, with music by G. V. Prakash Kumar.

Balaji Mohan said, “What makes Nayyi Navelli special to me is that it starts with a family that feels instantly relatable, with all the quirks, opinions and madness you’d recognise from any family, and then takes things somewhere completely unexpected that will leave you pleasantly surprised.” He added, “We have a fantastic ensemble, with everyone bringing something unique to the mix, while Yami brings warmth, mystery and mischief to Mohini. We’ve taken these household dynamics and given them a larger-than-life spin while keeping the humour intact throughout, and I am excited for audiences to experience my first Hindi film and this epic, fantastical world on the big screen this Dussehra.”

A Fantasy Premise Backed By A Strong Ensemble

Yami also underlined the shifting shades of her character. “What drew me to Mohini is that she is never quite what you expect. There’s a warmth and familiarity to her, but also a mystery that slowly reveals itself. Nayyi Navelli gave me the opportunity to explore a character that moves seamlessly between family, humour, emotion, fantasy and action, while still staying rooted at heart. It was a wonderful experience working with Balaji sir, Aanand sir, Himanshu, the team at Colour Yellow and Amazon MGM Studios. I’m really excited for audiences to meet Mohini this Dussehra and discover her for themselves.”

The film is backed by Amazon MGM Studios in association with Colour Yellow and marks another high-visibility Hindi project for Yami in a space that mixes commercial scale with genre-driven storytelling.

Yami Gautam Dhar’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Over the past few years, Yami has built a notably varied filmography across theatrical and streaming releases. Her recent titles include Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga in 2023, Article 370 in 2024, and the Netflix release Dhoom Dhaam in 2025. Her last theatrical release was Haq.

Nayyi Navelli now positions her in a festive theatrical release with an ensemble cast and a fantasy-comedy setup, giving her one of her most unusual mainstream Hindi roles in recent years.
