The Yash Chopra Foundation has unveiled a major education push for Hindi film industry families, announcing the YCF Scholarship Program 2026 with financial support of up to Rs 5 lakh per student. The initiative, announced in Mumbai on April 10, marks the second year of the program and sharpens the foundation’s focus on easing the higher education burden for children of registered industry workers and YCF Saathi members.
At a time when education costs continue to rise, the scholarship has been positioned as a meaningful intervention for film industry families who often work behind the scenes but remain central to the ecosystem. For the academic year 2026-27, eligible students can apply for support toward undergraduate and postgraduate courses at recognised institutions across India, with selection based on academic merit and financial need.
What The YCF Scholarship Program 2026 Covers
This year’s scholarship widens its scope considerably. In addition to creative and industry-linked fields such as Film Studies, Media and Communication, Animation and Visual Effects, Cinematography, Direction and Visual Arts, the 2026 edition now includes postgraduate courses in Engineering, Medical and Paramedical Sciences, Business and Management, Law, and Information Technology.
The foundation said the scholarship will cover tuition fees for eligible courses at NAAC-accredited, AICTE-approved, or government-recognised institutions across the country. The assistance will be disbursed directly to the respective institutions, a move designed to ensure that the funding reaches students in a structured and transparent manner.
Akshaye Widhani On Why The Initiative Matters
Speaking about the expanded program, YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani said, “As we proudly launch the second year of the YCF Scholarship Program, we’re thrilled to empower children of our Hindi film industry families to dream bigger and build sustainable futures through education. This year’s scope of work reflects our deeper commitment to help the 60% of families from the fraternity who are facing education funding challenges, as revealed by our YCF Saathi survey. These scholarships are aimed to help secure brighter tomorrows for these children. We invite every eligible family to apply at the earliest and allow us to help their children secure a brighter future for themselves.”
That survey insight forms a key part of the foundation’s latest push. According to YCF, more than 60 percent of film industry families surveyed through YCF Saathi faced financial challenges in funding higher education, underscoring the need for sustained support beyond one-off grants.
Application Process And Eligibility
Selected candidates will go through a multi-stage evaluation process that includes initial screening and personalised interviews before final selection. The program is open to children of registered Hindi film industry workers and YCF Saathi members.
Applicants can find detailed eligibility criteria and application information through the Yash Chopra Foundation’s official website and contact channels. With the 2026 edition expanding into several high-cost professional streams, the scholarship stands out as one of the more targeted education support initiatives currently available to families within the Hindi film industry.
