Yuvraj Singh’s inspiring journey in focus as cricketer shares update on biopic script and 2027 shoot plans

Yuvraj Singh’s life has long looked destined for the big screen, and now the former India all-rounder has offered the clearest update yet on where his biopic stands. The cricket icon, whose journey spans World Cup glory, a public battle with cancer, and one of the sport’s most unforgettable six-hitting feats, has said the film is still deep in the writing stage, with shooting expected to begin in 2027.

Yuvraj Singh Shares Fresh Update On The Biopic

Yuvraj confirmed that the script is still being developed and suggested that the project will take more time before cameras roll. He said, “It’s been 6 months of writing now, and hopefully in 9-12 months the script is going to be ready. If my team does their job on time, we should start shooting next year.”

His comments make it clear that filming is being lined up after the script is completed, keeping the project firmly on track as one of the most closely watched sports biopics in development. The biopic was announced in 2024, with Bhushan Kumar backing the film alongside Ravi Bhagchandka, who has previously been associated with Sachin: A Billion Dreams. The film is expected to revisit Yuvraj’s rise as one of Indian cricket’s most charismatic match-winners, from his six sixes in an over to his stirring comeback after battling cancer.

That personal arc remains one of the biggest reasons the film carries such emotional weight beyond cricketing nostalgia.

Health, Resilience And Life Beyond Cricket

Reflecting on his own journey, Yuvraj said, “I’ve been someone whose health fluctuated in the early days of my career. For me, health is wealth. A lot of people are scared of the disease, and even more so of talking about it. There was a time when I didn’t want to either, because I knew if I did, maybe my cricket would end. People would think, ‘This guy has cancer; he can’t play cricket.’ I believe my journey has inspired many people to overcome adversity. It’s important to share your experiences with others, and you need friends and family to talk about what you’re going through, because mental health is a very important aspect of our lives.”

That candour has become a defining part of Yuvraj’s public voice in recent years. He is remembered not only for match-winning performances, but also for speaking with unusual honesty about fear, recovery, and the importance of mental strength. It is exactly that mix of vulnerability and resilience that gives his biopic the potential to connect far beyond sports audiences.

Public Life And Family

Away from the field, Yuvraj has increasingly embraced a public life shaped by wellness conversations, appearances, and the everyday joy of fatherhood. Speaking about the energy his children bring into his life, he said, “You see your kids, and the energy just comes out of your body! When you get up in the morning, you’re naturally a bit slow and taking your time. But the moment I hear my kids talking outside my door in the living room, it’s just pure instinct to jump up and hug them. They come bouncing at you, and it’s probably the best feeling in the world. Nothing can match that.”

That warmth adds another dimension to a story audiences think they already know. The fierce competitor, the survivor, and the family man now all sit within the same frame, which is exactly why anticipation around the biopic continues to build as the script moves toward completion and the shoot inches closer.
