On Instagram a few months ago, Zeenat Aman shared an interesting story about how she landed the role in “Hare Rama, Hare Krishna.” She posted a black and white picture featuring herself and Dev Anand and wrote about how Dev Saab played a crucial role in discovering her. The incident took place in 1970 when O P Ralhan expressed sympathy for her situation. It was during this time that Dev Saab and his Navketan team were looking for cast members for “Hare Rama, Hare Krishna.” O P Ralhan generously suggested a meeting with Zeenat. At the meeting, Zeenat’s mother took the lead in the conversation while Zeenat, still in her teens, spoke only when spoken to and casually packed tobacco into her pipe. A few days later, she received a call on the landline, and the rest, as they say, is history.
After the initial meeting, Zeenat Aman was invited for a screen test, which ultimately led to her being chosen for the roles of Jasbir and Janice in the movie “Hare Rama, Hare Krishna.” But the story doesn’t end there.
