The production of Hombale Films‘ much-anticipated Kannada film Kantara Chapter 1 came to an abrupt halt on Monday after a serious accident involving the film’s crew. A bus carrying 20 junior artists overturned in Udupi district the previous night, leaving six individuals severely injured.
Kantara Shoot Halted After Major Crew Accident
PTI report reveals that the accident occurred near Jadkal, as the artists were returning to Kollur after a shoot in Mudoor. Local police confirmed the incident, revealing that the mini-bus flipped while the crew was on their way back from filming.
The injured were quickly rushed to nearby hospitals in Jadkal and Kundapur for treatment. As of now, the Kollur police are investigating the cause of the crash. Six of the artists, who suffered serious injuries, were taken to Jadkaal Mahalakshmi Clinic.
Following the accident, the production of Kantara Chapter 1 has been paused, pending further developments. The film’s team has expressed their concern for the well-being of the injured and is awaiting updates. The halt in shooting has left fans eagerly waiting for news on how the situation will unfold.

The prequel, which began shooting in November 2023, is set to release on October 2, 2025. The first look and teaser of the film were unveiled on November 27, 2023, with fans already excited about the return of Shetty in the director’s chair.
Alongside Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1 also stars Jayaram and Jisshu Sengupta, promising another gripping tale rooted in the region’s traditions.
