Roohi is the horror-comedy starring Rajkummar Rao, Janhvi Kapoor & Varun Sharma in lead roles and is helmed by Hardik Mehta.
Story:
The movie is a story about two guys Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma, both kidnap Roohi (Janhvi Kapoor) who is possessed by a ghost. The ghost is popular for putting men to sleep and then taking over their brides. To save Roohi and the entire village our heroes take responsibility on themselves and the chaos that follows makes up for all the horror and humour. The movie is the perfect combination of horror and comedy. There are many scenes in which the humour comes out of moments where the characters are running away scared and moving their hands and legs out of no where.
Performances:
Rajkummar Rao have entertained all of us again with his comic skills and Varun Sharma is best in his role for which means double the fun. Although it would be good to see Varun in something else than the comic role for a change. Janhvi Kapoor looked impressive as the ghost-possessed girl and her acting was on point in the entire movie but only in her ghost parts. As a human, in the film, she had nothing much to offer.
Direction:
Hardik Mehta’s direction throughout the film is on point. Every scene, every dialogue is placed at the right time and the right place. The comic scenes became more interesting because of good direction. But then, what’s the use of a good direction if the script isn’t matching your talent.
Music:
None of the songs in the film clicked with the audience. Although, Ketan Sodha’s amazing background score have to be one of the best technical things of all. His music even elevated the non-scary scenes.
Verdict:
After a really long time, now as a film released in a theater, you should go and have fun watching this. Roohi can be a stress-buster looking at the current situation but not something we wanted to bring back cinemas with.
