Special Feature: Actors Exposed With Zero Stardom Among Masses After The Utter Failure Of Action Flicks – Varun Dhawan’s Baby John, Siddhant Chaturvedi’s Yudhra & Sidharth Malhotra’s Yodha

The failure of action films like Baby John, Yudhra, and Yodha proves the lack of star power and mass appeal of their lead actors, Varun Dhawan, Sidhant Chaturvedi, and Siddharth Malhotra.

In recent times, Bollywood has seen a surge of action films with promising plots, high production values, and intense performances. However, despite the excitement surrounding these films, not all have lived up to expectations.

Varun Dhawan’s Baby John, Siddhant Chaturvedi’s Yudhra, and Sidharth Malhotra’s Yodha are prime examples of action films that have failed to make an impact at the box office. What do these films have in common? Mediocre performances, a lack of star power, and an inability to attract the masses.

What Is Common Between Yodha, Yudhra And Baby John?

The most glaring similarity between Yodha, Yudhra, and Baby John is their underwhelming box office performance, despite being action-packed films.

These movies, featuring actors who lack the significant box office appeal of Bollywood’s biggest stars, failed to generate the kind of audience engagement expected from action blockbusters.

For instance, Baby John, despite opening with Rs 11.25 crore, could not maintain its momentum and ended with a disappointing Rs 28.65 crore over five days. Competition from films like Pushpa 2 and Mufasa: The Lion King undoubtedly took a toll, but the film’s lack of a major star also contributed to its inability to draw in larger crowds. Similarly, Yudhra and Yodha, both suffering from poor audience turnout, failed to break through at the box office.

Poor Action Films With Mediocre Lead Heroes

The key reason behind the failure of these films lies in their inability to tap into the commercial success that action films with established stars enjoy. Unlike films featuring the likes of Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, and Ranbir Kapoor, these movies didn’t have the drawing power needed to pack theatres.

Big stars bring with them a sense of security, familiarity, and a strong fan following, which ensures a film’s initial success, even if the content is average. For example, Yudhra with Siddhant Chaturvedi, despite its promising premise, could not capitalise on any major fan base. .

The lack of a strong lead actor meant that audiences did not feel compelled to see the film, which struggled with both poor reviews and lacklustre ticket sales.

Similarly, Yodha starring Sidharth Malhotra, despite being produced by Dharma Productions, couldn’t break through the commercial clutter and ended up with a forgettable box office run.

Action Works With Big Stars

Bollywood’s history is full of successful action films led by well-established stars. Salman Khan’s Wanted, Kick, Tiger Zinda Hai, and the Dabangg series are prime examples of how big names can transform an action movie into a massive box office hit.

Similarly, Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Jawan have set new standards for action films in India. These films not only boast thrilling action but also enjoy the backing of global stars with a massive fanbase.

Hrithik Roshan’s War and his highly anticipated Fighter continue to establish his position as one of Bollywood’s top action stars. Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming Animal sequel is expected to follow in these footsteps, promising yet another action-packed blockbuster.

These stars have a proven track record of delivering successful action films, something the lesser-known leads in Baby John, Yudhra, and Yodha could not replicate, leading to their disappointing runs.
