Avengers Endgame Re-Release Storms Past 100,000 Tickets In India With Rs 5 Crore Advance Start

Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame is showing its theatrical muscle all over again in India. The re-release, branded Avengers: Endgame Encore, has already crossed 100,000 tickets in advance sales for its opening weekend, with bookings valued at over Rs 5 crore and a week still left before release.

The early trend is especially striking because the film has not gone fully wide yet. Several key high-performing properties are still adding shows, while some major centres have opened only limited inventory so far. Even with that partial rollout, demand has remained strong enough to push the re-release into rare air for a catalogue title, underlining how durable Marvel’s event-cinema appeal remains in India.

Opening Weekend Advance Gains Momentum

The opening day alone has accounted for close to 40,000 tickets so far, with healthy traction extending into Saturday and Sunday. Chennai has emerged as one of the standout centres in the early phase, where the first batch of available shows sold out quickly. Similar patterns are visible in other locations where only a portion of the final inventory has gone live.

That limited availability makes the current number even more notable. Re-releases do not usually sustain this kind of nationwide urgency a full week ahead of release. But Avengers: Endgame Encore appears to be drawing both returning fans and younger moviegoers who missed its 2019 theatrical peak on the big screen.

Why This Re-Release Matters

The September 25, 2026 theatrical return is not a standard nostalgia play. Disney and Marvel are positioning Avengers: Endgame Encore as a special event release ahead of Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to arrive on December 18, 2026. That gives the current run an added sense of occasion, especially for audiences ready to revisit the culmination of the Infinity Saga in cinemas.

If the current pace holds after full show allocation opens up, the film could end up delivering one of the biggest starts ever seen for a re-release in India. The scale of the advance makes that possibility impossible to ignore.

The Film’s India Box Office Legacy

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Endgame first released in 2019 and became one of Hollywood’s defining box office events in India. The superhero epic starred Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner, and followed the Avengers’ final bid to undo the devastation caused by Thanos.

Its India record has since faced tougher competition. Avatar: The Way of Water moved ahead of it, and in 2026 Spider-Man: Brand New Day climbed even higher to become the top-grossing Hollywood title in India, while also overtaking Endgame’s long-standing opening-day benchmark.

That is what makes this encore run so interesting. Avengers: Endgame is no longer just returning as a past blockbuster. It is returning as a proven giant testing how much audience love it still commands in a changed market.
