Sooryavanshi, the year’s most anticipated film, will finally hit theatres today. The cast, which includes Rohit Shetty, Akshay Kumar, and Katrina Kaif, is going all out to promote their huge action movie. The film, which was intended to be released in March of last year but was postponed because to the global pandemic, is on track to break a significant box office record, based on advance bookings.

The Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif film is a standalone Bollywood release, along with Eternals, a Hollywood release and Rajinikanth’s Annaatthe, a Tamil film are expected to provide much needed action at box office. The Marvel film is almost as eagerly awaited as the Rohit Shetty-directed film, which is due to hit theatres in March 2020.
Both films had a neck-and-neck advance booking for the weekend, according to early estimates. The total amount collected is expected to be about Rs 2 crore nett for Eternals. According to the report, ticket sales for Rohit Shetty’s cop drama have overtaken those for the Marvel feature and it has crossed 4 cr number by Friday morning.
Sooryavanshi anticipates a wider release across the country, although Eternals will only be shown in a few multiplex chains. According to reports, the Akshay Kumar starrter’s producers negotiated release dates with national theatre chains until the last minute, securing almost 4000 screens. As revenue share drama went on till late Thursday night, bookings are on lower side in national multiplexes for cop drama but single screens have seen higher bookings since last blockbuster ‘War’.
Meanwhile, the film is released over a long weekend, and the holiday season is expected to enhance box office collections.

Film started with 35% occupancy on Friday morning which is on lower side but it is bound to improve as the day progresses. Film has good occupancy across the board and it should cross double digit number for sure on day one going by the trends. Sooryavanshi may not rank among Akshay Kumar’s top ten grossing films, but the film could still do big numbers in this new normal which will set new standards for box office.
