Ranbir Kapoor will make his big-screen comeback in Shamshera, the next action-adventure from Karan Malhotra, four years after Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju. Since the film’s announcement, there has been a lot of anticipation surrounding this dacoit thriller because it marks Ranbir’s debut appearance on screen as a classic larger-than-life hero.
YRF-backed Shamshera is set to release tomorrow all over the world. The film is releasing in 4300 screens in India and 1200 screens overseas. It has created a lot of curiosity as its first release after 4 years for Ranbir Kapoor and YRF’s hope after strings of flops.
A lot of numbers going around the trade and as always, the truth is somewhere between – it’s neither too bad nor too good. The film should open around 11.5-12 cr nett going by advances and if spot booking is good then 13-14 cr nett seems possible.
This is actually a fair result for Shamshera as it will depend from here onwards on word of mouth.
Besides Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt, Shamshera also stars Vaani Kapoor in a pivotal role. The film is directed by Karan Malhotra.
