Unni Mukundan’s Marco Crosses Rs 50 Cr Mark Globally In Its 1st Week, Targets Rs 100 Cr Mark Amid BO Battle With Barroz

Marco has grossed over Rs 50 cr globally in its first week and is aiming for the Rs 100 cr mark despite competition from other major films

Unni Mukundan’s new action-packed thriller Marco has made a powerful entrance at the box office. Released on December 20, during the Christmas weekend, the Malayalam film has already crossed Rs 50 crore globally in just its first week. Directed by Haneef Adeni, Marco has had a successful run despite stiff competition from major releases like Mufasa: The Lion King, Vanvaas, UI, and others.

Marco Crosses Rs 25 Cr In Kerala & Rs 50 Cr Globally In 1st Week

Marco has proven to be a crowd-puller, especially in Kerala, where it earned Rs 4.45 crore on its opening day. The film continued to perform strongly, grossing Rs 4.55 crore on its second day, followed by Rs 5 crore, Rs 4 crore, and Rs 3.55 crore on Days 3, 4, and 5, respectively.

On Day 6, the film earned Rs 3.30 crore in Kerala. After six days of release, Marco’s cumulative collection in its home state has reached Rs 24.85 crore.

Days Earnings in Kerala (gross)
Day 1 (Friday) Rs 4.45 cr
Day 2 (Saturday) Rs 4.55 cr
Day 3 (Sunday) Rs 5 cr
Day 4 (Monday) Rs 4 cr
Day 5 (Tuesday) Rs 3.55 cr
Day 6 (Wednesday) Rs 3.3 cr
Total Rs 24.85 cr gross total

Globally, the film’s performance has been equally impressive. In total, it has grossed around Rs 49 crore, with Rs 24 crore coming from markets outside Kerala. This includes collections from the rest of India and international markets. By the seventh day, Marco had crossed the Rs 50 crore mark, and it shows no signs of slowing down.

The film’s unique selling point is its gritty and violent storytelling, earning it a reputation as one of the most intense A-rated films in Indian cinema. This bold approach has worked in its favour, helping it attract a wide audience. Produced by Cubes Entertainments, Marco has quickly become one of the most talked-about films of the season, especially among fans of action thrillers.

Will It Reach Rs 100 Cr Mark Amid Competition With Barroz?

The film has shown strong resilience, particularly in Kerala, despite facing competition from Mohanlal’s Barroz, which launched with an impressive Rs 3.5 crore on its opening day.

However, Marco has managed to hold its ground, thanks to its gripping narrative and intense action sequences. Analysts predict that the film will continue to be a dominant choice in Kerala for the next couple of weeks, which could help boost its box office numbers even further.

With its solid performance in Kerala and growing recognition outside the state, Marco is now eyeing the Rs 100 crore mark globally. While its main success has been in the South Indian markets, a stronger showing in the Hindi markets could further elevate its earnings. For now, the makers seem satisfied with the positive reception in the South, where the film continues to make waves.

If Marco keeps up its momentum, it could very well join the exclusive Rs 100 crore club. The action-packed thriller, with its intense drama and action sequences, is well on its way to becoming one of the most successful Malayalam films of the year.
