Shaitaan, the much-awaited horror thriller starring Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan, Jyotika and Janki Bodiwala, released today and it promises to be a nerve-racking ride. Film’s trailer got good reception and it’s a much awaited release as dull period at box office needed some momentum.
The film, directed by Vikas Bahl, tells the story of a family that unwittingly invites a sinister stranger into their home, who unleashes a series of terrifying events involving dark forces and evil spirits. The film brings together powerhouse talents and promises a thrilling experience like never before. It’s an official remake of Gujarati film Vash.
Shaitaan Is Stable On Weekdays
Ajay Devgn starrer Shaitaan took solid opening in day one and grew with each show. Film crossed 8.35 crore nett in national chains on day one which was fantastic number. Film crossed 15.21 crore nett on day one all India which was way more than anyone’s expectation. Collections were boosted by Maha Shivratri holiday to an extent. Film scored 5th biggest opening day for Ajay Devgn.
On day two, film continued to perform despite coming out of holiday. Film grew by 25% and collected around 19.18 crore nett all India. Film collected 10.60 crore nett in national chains. Film is solid almost across the board – from West Benegal to Orissa to Gujarat. Film collected 20.74 crore nett on Sunday with minor growth. Film has three day total of 55.13 crore nett which is outstanding result.
Film was expected to drop on day 4 Monday but drop is too steep. Film is heading for 7.81 crore nett day 4 which is drop of 50% from day 1. Even if one takes in account Maha Shivaratri aided day one, still drop is big. Film collected 6.57 crore nett on Tuesday with further drop but remain stable on Wednesday with 6.27 crore nett.
Film has collected 75.78 crore nett in 6 days. Film will cross 80.50 crore nett in week one. It has also crossed 113 crore worldwide gross. Now a good hold needed from here onwards so that film can collect for next few weeks.
