Today multiple Hindi films, regional films, dubbed Pan India film, Hollywood film and Japanese Anime released at box office. Almost all films tanked without much trace though there were few consolation prizes.
Directed by acclaimed director Nandita Das, ‘Zwigato’ was never a box office prospect though main lead Kapil Sharma gave it visibility. But still there is nothing much happening for the film. Film is distributed by Viacom 18 and they released it in only 400 plus screens.
Despite glowing reviews, film opened to 5% occupancy in few cinemas and there was no improvement throughout the day. Film will collect close to 43 lacs nett on day one which is disaster even for this sort film of not so high budget.
Film is not expected to grow big over weekend as there is too many options for the audience plus this is post Holi lean period. Ideally this film would be a direct to digital release but with present scenario it’s tough to get a direct to digital deal for a non commercial film.
