Fast & Furious 9 (F9), starring Vin Diesel and John Cena finally hits theatres, and the film is expected to do well. Given the popularity of the series in India prior to the pandemic, a first day number of 10-15 crores was expected. However, because these are times of COVID-related restrictions in several states, an optimal number cannot be expected.
Since March 2020, box office was impacted, and it has not fully recovered since. While F9 arrived in theatres at a time when things were a little better, the industry is once again in turmoil. Fast & Furious 9 is a pan-India release, with subtitles in regional languages in addition to English. The first day collections stands at an estimated 1.50 cr plus which is a good start considering it was a non-holiday.
Fast & Furious 9 will compete in Indian theatres against Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, a new Marvel film. Fast & Furious 10 will be released in theatres globally on April 7, 2023.
