EXCLUSIVE: Oppenheimer Crosses 86 Cr Gross And 72 Cr Net In India In Week One, Crosses Huge $258 Million Global In Week One

Christopher Nolan is easily one of the biggest filmmakers on this planet. His films are known for successfully bridging the gap between art and commerce. His upcoming historical biographical drama film Oppenheimer is one of the most anticipated films of 2023. The advance booking of the film in India kick-started 15 days back and a lot of people flocked to book its ticket. It went through the roof as film sold massive numbers in advances. 

The impressive advance booking stats of the film has led trade experts to believe that it might open to double-digit figure on its opening day in India but we predicted it will be biggest opening of the year in Hollywood in India. And that’s what happened!

Oppenheimer Box Office Collection In India 

Film has collected big 14.50 cr net on day one followed by good jump on day two. Film collected 17 cr net on day two followed by 16.75 cr net on Sunday. Film had 3 – day total of 57.50 cr gross (48.25 cr net). Film dropped on Monday on expected lines by 52% and collected 6.75 cr net. Film added 6.25 cr net on Tuesday followed by 5.75 cr net Wednesday and 5.25 ent Thursday.

Film collected 72.25 cr net (8.75 cr gross) in week one and film will cross 100 cr net lifetime India which is massive for a Nolan film considering its niche.

India is the best-performing market for the film internationally. With $7 million plus weekend, it will be only second to the United Kingdom ($12 million) in terms of gross box office collections, ahead of bigger Hollywood markets like France, Australia, Germany, etc. despite releasing on Friday while the aforementioned had four or five days weekend. In terms of tickets sold, it is even better, with more than 2.30 million admits, ahead of 1 million in the United Kingdom or 0.70 million in France.

Oppenheimer Lags Behind Barbie At Global Box Office 

Oppenheimer was expected to open around 80-90 Million USD Worldwide for weekend but considerably behind Barbie. Oppenheimer blew up industry’s projections at US box office after outstanding 80.5 Million USD over its 3-day opening weekend. This was biggest for an original film in Christopher Nolan’s career, beating Inception’s 62.8 Million USD! This was also biggest for any R-rated film Post-Covid, beating JohnWick 4’s 73.8 Million USD. Film collected huge 174.2 Million USD Worldwide over weekend.

Domestic US: $120 Million

Overseas: $138 Million

Total Worldwide: $258 Million

Film will cross global $300 million tomorrow, $400 Million by 2nd weekend and $500 million in 3rd week.
