Haiwaan Stumbles In First Week As Akshay Kumar And Saif Ali Khan Film Nets Rs 8.75 Crore

Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan came together for Haiwaan with the kind of star pull that usually guarantees at least an early theatrical spark. Instead, the psychological action thriller has spent its first week fighting indifference, closing seven days at just Rs 8.75 crore nett and emerging as one of the softer recent openings for a film mounted around two marquee Hindi film names.

The film did begin with some opening-day curiosity, but that interest faded fast. After collecting Rs 2.50 crore on day one, Haiwaan saw only modest support over the weekend before slipping sharply through the weekdays, when its daily numbers dropped below the Rs 1 crore mark and eventually settled at Rs 0.50 crore on both day six and day seven. By the end of its first week, the trend had become clear: this was not a film finding late momentum, but one struggling to convert visibility into sustained footfalls.

First Week Trend Turns Weak

The Rs 8.75 crore first-week total tells only part of the story. What stands out more is how quickly Haiwaan lost pace after release. There was no meaningful weekday hold, no midweek stabilisation, and no sign of the kind of word-of-mouth push that can help an underpowered opener recover ground.

Haiwaan Box Office Collection:

Day 1: 3.00 cr

Day 2: 2.50 cr

Day 3: 1.75 cr

Day 4: 0.65 cr

Day 5: 0.60 cr

Day 6: 0.50 cr

Day 7: 0.50 cr

Total: 8.75 crore nett

That weakness matters because the film arrived with a package designed to attract attention. Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan front the thriller, while Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Saiyami Kher and Rajpal Yadav round out the key cast. Yet the first-week trajectory suggests audiences did not latch on strongly enough for the film to build beyond its initial curiosity.

What Haiwaan Is About

That makes the film’s core premise especially relevant to its box office conversation. Haiwaan, released in theatres on September 11, 2026, follows Shyam Rane, a visually impaired building maintenance head whose heightened senses and reflexes place him in the middle of a dangerous mystery.

As a man named Parshuram Gokhale begins targeting people linked to Shyam’s past, the story turns into a race to protect a young girl named Nandini and clear Shyam’s name. With Varsha helping him piece the puzzle together, Shyam is pushed into a tense survival chase built around hidden histories, revenge and pursuit.

Akshay Kumar And Saif Ali Khan’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Haiwaan lands at an important moment for both its leads. Akshay Kumar has remained one of Hindi cinema’s busiest stars, with recent releases including Sky Force, Kesari Chapter 2 and Jolly LLB 3. That steady stream of releases has kept him constantly in the box office conversation, which makes the muted response to Haiwaan more striking.

For Saif Ali Khan, the film follows a run that has included Adipurush, Devara: Part 1 and the Netflix release Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins. In that context, Haiwaan looked positioned as a high-profile theatrical outing with a darker commercial edge. Its weak first week, however, has left it searching for traction far earlier than expected.
