Obsession Races Past Rs 70 Crore In India After Big 3rd Saturday Jump, Michael Johnston And Inde Navarrette’s Horror Hit Stays Unstoppable

Obsession is showing no signs of slowing down in India. The supernatural horror thriller delivered another strong push at the box office on its third Saturday, collecting Rs 7 crore and taking its 16-day total to Rs 70 crore gross. The latest surge came with a 75 per cent jump over Friday, a powerful hold for a film already deep into its theatrical run and further proof that the title has struck a major chord with Indian audiences.

The third Saturday leap is especially notable because the broader market did not see exceptional growth. Against that backdrop, Obsession managed to stand out once again, extending a run that has now turned the film into one of the most resilient Hollywood performers in India this year. After entering its third week on a steady note, the film converted weekend momentum into another headline-making milestone.

Obsession Adds Rs 7 Crore On Day 16

The Curry Barker directorial had already established itself as a strong theatrical player in India across its first two weeks, and day 16 only strengthened that position. The film’s India gross now stands at Rs 70 crore, powered by a third Saturday that significantly lifted its weekend trajectory.

Its recorded daily trend remains solid. After ending week one at Rs 21.85 crore, Obsession added Rs 4 crore on its second Friday, Rs 7.80 crore on second Saturday, and Rs 8.80 crore on second Sunday. In the weekdays that followed, it brought in Rs 4.25 crore on Monday, Rs 4.65 crore on Tuesday, Rs 4 crore on Wednesday, and Rs 3.65 crore on Thursday. The third week began with Rs 4 crore on Friday before jumping to Rs 7 crore on Saturday.

With that pace, the film has continued to dominate the conversation around Hollywood theatrical releases in India. The current trend also keeps it firmly in the hunt to finish among the year’s biggest imported hits in the market.

The Film Behind The Box Office Run

Directed and written by Curry Barker, Obsession is a 2025 American supernatural psychological horror film starring Michael Johnston and Inde Navarrette in the lead, with Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, and Andy Richter in supporting roles. The film was backed by Blumhouse Productions, Capstone Studios, Tea Shop Productions, and Under the Shell.

The story follows Bear, a music store employee who comes into possession of a supernatural object that grants his wish for Nikki to fall in love with him. What begins as desire quickly spirals into something far darker and more dangerous.

Obsession has now emerged as a clear theatrical success story in India, with its staying power becoming as impressive as its opening momentum.
