The Odyssey Final Advance Booking: Christopher Nolan Film Clocks 3Rd Best Advance Booking Of The Year With 140,000 Tickets In Top National Chains

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is heading into release with serious momentum in India. The filmmaker’s new epic has wrapped up its final day of advance bookings with around 140,000 tickets sold across the top national chains, PVR Inox and Cinepolis, giving it the third best advance booking of the year behind Dhurandhar 2 and Border 2. For a Hollywood title, that is a striking pre-release performance, especially with premium pricing pushing up the average ticket rate.

The big talking point now is whether The Odyssey can convert that pre-sales strength into a strong opening day total. With the film taking in more than Rs. 8.25 crore in advance sales, the film now heads towards a Rs. 20 crore gross start in India on day one.

Late Surge In Sales Sets Up Strong Opening Day Run

The final advance booking trend has put The Odyssey firmly among the strongest openers of the year. Of the reported pre-sales, the film grossed over Rs. 7.75 crore from the top national chains alone, edging past the advance of Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which had closed at Rs. 7.50 crore in the same circuits. That said, Oppenheimer still retained the edge in pure ticket count, having sold more than 2 lakh tickets in the national chains before release.

The gap in admissions appears to be linked to the heavier pricing for The Odyssey, which has leaned on premium formats and higher average ticket rates. Even so, the late surge was notable. The film picked up strong momentum in the last two days of sales, with its final stretch boosted by enthusiastic response from special premiere screenings.

That last-minute acceleration matters because Oppenheimer had opened to Rs. 17.77 crore gross, or Rs. 14.58 crore nett, on its first day in India. The Odyssey now enters cinemas with a realistic shot at finishing in the Rs. 17 crore to Rs. 18 crore nett range, while a Rs. 20 crore gross opening remains the key benchmark.

Following is the top advance bookings in India in 2026 and Dhurandhar The Revenge leads by big margin. The Odyssey still managed to score big in advances beating all Hindi films except two sequels.

2. Border 2: 1,45,000 tickets

3. The Odyssey: 1,40,000 tickets

Christopher Nolan’s Mythic Epic Brings Scale, Star Power And Big India Interest

The Odyssey is a 2026 epic fantasy action film written and directed by Christopher Nolan, based on Homer’s classic poem. The film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, with Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya and Charlize Theron in the ensemble cast. Nolan produced the film with Emma Thomas through Syncopy, and Universal Pictures is distributing it.

The story follows Odysseus after the Trojan War as he faces a long, dangerous journey back to Ithaca, encountering mythical forces and impossible trials as he tries to reunite with his wife Penelope. With Nolan returning after the global success of Oppenheimer, the film opened with considerable anticipation in the Indian market.

The strong advance sales have already placed The Odyssey among the standout Hollywood launches of the year in India. The opening day numbers will now determine how far that early momentum carries into the weekend.
