The Odyssey Storms Past Rs 190 Crore In India As Christopher Nolan’s Film Stays Steady In Week 9

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is still finding box office fuel deep into its theatrical run. In an era when most event films lose momentum after the first few weeks, the epic has crossed Rs 190 crore net in India and done it with a ninth-week performance that still turned heads despite limited screens and sharply reduced show counts.

Week 9 closed at Rs 1.16 crore, taking the film’s total India net collection across all versions to Rs 190.05 crore. The latest week brought in Rs 12 lakh on Friday, Rs 29 lakh on Saturday, Rs 31 lakh on Sunday, Rs 18 lakh on Monday, Rs 10 lakh on Tuesday, Rs 9 lakh on Wednesday, and Rs 7 lakh on Thursday. The weekend again gave the film a visible push, with Saturday and Sunday alone contributing Rs 60 lakh.

Week By Week Run Shows Remarkable Staying Power

The full trajectory makes the achievement even more striking. The Odyssey opened with Rs 85.65 crore in Week 1, followed by Rs 45.67 crore in Week 2 and Rs 23.69 crore in Week 3. It then collected Rs 15.65 crore in Week 4, Rs 7.39 crore in Week 5, Rs 5.57 crore in Week 6, Rs 2.82 crore in Week 7, Rs 2.45 crore in Week 8, and Rs 1.16 crore in Week 9.

For a large-scale Hollywood release, that kind of long-tail run in India is not routine. Crossing Rs 190 crore after nine weeks signals more than just a strong opening phase. It shows the film retained audience interest long after the initial rush, an especially notable feat at a time when theatrical windows are tighter and newer releases arrive faster.

The Odyssey’s Big Screen Design Helped Sustain The Run

Released in July 2026, The Odyssey is Nolan’s mythic action epic based on Homer’s classic poem. Universal sold the film as the first feature shot entirely with IMAX film cameras, a distinction that became a major part of its theatrical identity. The ensemble cast includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, and Mia Goth.

The story follows Odysseus as he attempts the long journey home after war, giving Nolan a canvas built for scale, danger, and spectacle. That premium-screen appeal appears to have played a major role in the film’s longevity in India, where event cinema with strong visual ambition often benefits from repeat viewing and sustained urban multiplex demand.

What The Rs 190 Crore Milestone Means

The Rs 190.05 crore mark further cements Nolan’s standing as one of the most dependable Hollywood filmmakers in the Indian market. The Odyssey has not just opened big, it has stayed in the conversation week after week, which is often the harder benchmark to hit.

More importantly, the film’s nine-week hold gives it a theatrical legacy that goes beyond opening weekend headlines. In India, The Odyssey has turned endurance into its biggest headline, proving that even with fewer shows and shrinking screens, audience appetite for large-format spectacle can carry a film far longer than expected.
