Tom Cruise’s Digger Slips On Day 2 As India Total Reaches Rs 1.10 Crore

A Tom Cruise release usually lands in India with instant event-film energy, which is what makes Digger’s early run such a surprise. Instead of racing out of the gate, the Alejandro G. Iñárritu directorial opened to a muted response, collecting Rs 65 lakh across 579 shows on Day 1 and adding Rs 45 lakh on Day 2 from 468 shows. After two days, the film’s India net total stands at Rs 1.10 crore.

Latest India Box Office Update

The Day 2 slide, along with a visible reduction in show count, points to a restrained theatrical start for Digger in the Indian market. That is striking not only because Cruise has enjoyed durable goodwill with urban multiplex audiences, but also because this film arrived with a rare kind of prestige curiosity. A collaboration between Cruise and Iñárritu was always going to spark attention, especially among viewers drawn to ambitious, director-led Hollywood cinema.

That curiosity followed the film into its global rollout. Digger began releasing internationally from September 30, 2026, before opening in North America on October 2, 2026. The cast includes Sandra Hüller, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde and Emma D’Arcy rounding out the ensemble. Backed by Warner Bros. as a full-scale theatrical release, Digger centres on a powerful man whose actions unleash consequences on a global scale. The setup gives the film the feel of a darkly comic drama, with its tone and premise setting it apart from the franchise spectacle typically associated with Cruise.

Tom Cruise’s Recent And Upcoming Work

For Cruise, Digger arrives at a fascinating stage in his career. The actor spent the past several years reaffirming his status as one of Hollywood’s defining theatrical draws through films built on scale, risk and crowd-pulling spectacle. Top Gun: Maverick in 2022 became a landmark blockbuster, while Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One in 2023 and Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning in 2025 kept him firmly rooted in event cinema. Against that backdrop, Digger feels like a deliberate shift in rhythm, moving him toward a more director-driven and tonally unpredictable project. As of October 4, 2026, it stands as his latest confirmed release and a notable new chapter in his post-Mission: Impossible screen journey.
