Vibe Takes A Modest Start At The Box Office With Rs 1.50 Crore Opening Day Haul

Kunal Kemmu’s VIBE did not storm the box office on its opening day, but it did show just enough late-evening movement to keep the weekend conversation alive. The film collected Rs 1.50 crore net on Friday, September 18, 2026, after building from a sluggish morning start to a much stronger night-show finish, giving its first-day trend a more encouraging shape than the early numbers suggested.

The Hindi film recorded an overall day one occupancy of 13.38 percent and grossed Rs 1.80 crore in India, with collections coming from 3,194 shows nationwide. Morning occupancy began at 6 percent, rose through the afternoon and evening, and peaked at 22.31 percent in the night shows. That progression gave VIBE a visible late push, even if the overall opening remained modest.

Night Shows Lift Day One Trend

The clearest support for VIBE came from urban centres where the film found better traction after sunset. Mumbai posted 16 percent overall occupancy, while Bengaluru registered 17.3 percent and Hyderabad matched 16 percent. Chennai stood out with 21.3 percent overall occupancy, making it one of the film’s strongest markets on percentage terms.

The National Capital Region recorded 14.8 percent occupancy across 446 shows, while Pune delivered 15 percent and Lucknow came in at 15.3 percent. Surat remained among the softer centres at 5 percent, highlighting the uneven spread of the film’s day one pull. Still, the jump from morning to night gave the opening a more dynamic shape than a flat Friday total would suggest.

That day-end recovery also keeps attention firmly on what VIBE is selling beyond its opening number, and that is where the film’s creative identity becomes central to its theatrical run.

Kunal Kemmu Returns As Director With Vibe

More than just another action release, VIBE arrives as a key directorial move for Kunal Kemmu after Madgaon Express strengthened his standing as a filmmaker with a clear comic and character-driven voice. Here, he shifts into a more adrenaline-fuelled zone, using the story of two inseparable friends pulled into chaos to package action with a friendship-led emotional spine.

The cast includes Kemmu, Sparsh Shrivastava, Vanshika Dhir, and Preity Zinta. The film runs 2 hours and 26 minutes and carries an A certificate. Its premise follows two ordinary friends whose lives spiral into a high-energy adventure that pushes both their bond and survival instincts to the limit.

Why The Cast Matters To Vibe’s Opening

The film’s opening-day interest was shaped by a cast that brings very different kinds of audience recall. Kemmu entered VIBE with directorial goodwill after Madgaon Express, which gave the film a strong identity in a crowded market. Sparsh Shrivastava added fresh theatrical visibility after Laapataa Ladies in 2024, while Preity Zinta’s presence gave the project added attention because of how selective her screen appearances have been in recent years.

That combination gave VIBE a recognisable face value across demographics, even though the box office start stayed controlled. On day one, the film drew enough evening traction to signal audience awareness, but its real test now lies in converting that recognition into stronger weekend business.
