Rudra — The Edge of Darkness, Ajay Devgn’s first web series, finally gets a release date. Devgn will begin filming for this Disney+Hotstar series on July 21 in Mumbai, according to Peepingmoon.
Rudra, a remake of the blockbuster British psychological crime drama Luther, will be shot over the next two months in numerous renowned sites around Mumbai. Rajesh Mapuskar, director of Ferrari Ki Sawaari and Ventilator, has been brought on board to direct this gripping and dark cop drama, which is produced by Sameer Nair’s Applause Entertainment in collaboration with BBC Studios India.
It is also revealed by the portal that South actress Raashii Khanna has been cast in a key part in the series, which stars Ajay Devgn as a detective investigating serious crimes while simultaneously facing his own demons. While Devgn takes on the character of Luther’s original star, Idris Elba, Khanna will take on the part of Ruth Wilson.
Ajay Devgn’s OTT debut, Rudra — The Edge of Darkness, is reported to be Disney+Hotstar’s biggest Indian show ever. It’s being planned on a massive scale, with numerous seasons, the first of which will run for 8-10 episodes.
The series follows the cases of a troubled yet intelligent officer who is trapped between an unrelenting approach to investigating many murders and his attempts to restore his marriage, with a bold and genre-defining story and fascinating characters. After the award-winning South Korean version, Less Than Evil, the Disney+Hotstar remake is the second Asian remake of the five-season British series.
After completing his parts in MayDay and Thank God, which also stars Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh, the superstar will enter the cyber realm. Once he’s finished with Rudra, he’ll return to his much-anticipated sports drama Maidaan.
