The second week of August brings a plethora of new releases on a variety of streaming services. Shershaah and Bhuj: The Pride of India, two Hindi war films, set the patriotic mood in the run-up to Independence Day.
Let’s take a look at this week’s releases on the OTT platforms.
The film, directed by Vishnuvaradhan, is billed as a biographical war drama about Captain Batra’s life and how he led his troops into battle during the 1999 Kargil war. Captain Vikram Batra and his twin brother Vishal Batra will be played by Siddharth Malhotra. Kiara Advani is a model and actress. Advani plays Dimple Cheema, Captain Vikram Batra’s romantic interest in the film.
Bhuj: The Pride Of India:
The film is described as a “true story” of bravery, patriotism, and determination set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. The historical war-action film follows IAF Squadron Leader and then Bhuj airport in-charge Vijay Karnik (Ajay Devgn), who rebuilt a complete IAF airbase with the help of 300 women from a nearby village in Madhapar to safeguard the country. Bhuj also stars Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Ammy Virk, Nora Fatehi and Sharad Kelkar.
Prithviraj-starrer Kuruthi, a Malayalam film, was released on Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday. Prithviraj Sukumaran, Roshan Mathew, Murali Gopy, Shine Tom Chacko, Mamukkoya, Srindaa, Navas Vallikkunnu, and Thanneer Mathan Dinangal fame Naslen star in Kuruthi, which tells the storey of a gang of guys who end up at a house in a night of terror.
Nayanthara plays a visually impaired lady on the hunt for a serial killer in the Tamil crime thriller. Director Vignesh Shivan’s home production label Rowdy Films is financing the thriller directed by Milind Rau. Talking about the project, Milind said in a statement: “Tamil audiences love a good thriller, and I wanted to create a movie unlike any that the genre has seen in Kollywood.”
