On Tuesday, the trailer for Season 2 of Apple TV+’s The Morning Show was released. Before the screen went black, Season 1 finished with Morning Show anchors Alex (Jennifer Aniston) and Bradley (Reese Witherspoon) revealing a toxic culture at the UBA. They exposed “an environment that silenced women that came forward with complaints about sexual misconduct,” as they put it.
The Morning Show’s second season follows up after the events of the first season, with Alex having departed the network. The Morning Show, on the other hand, is now dealing with a new issue: low ratings.
The network’s pace has slowed since the big reveal, and it urgently needs a makeover. Cory (Billy Crudup), a UBA Network executive, can be seen asking Alex to return, “Alex, I need you to come back. You are the only thing that can save us.”
The second season will focus on Alex’s return to the airwaves as well as the coverage of the coronavirus outbreak. Alex is later reintroduced to the show as Bradley’s co-host. For a brief moment, Hasan Minaj sits in the co-chair anchor’s with Bradley.
Season 2 of The Morning Show will also address the network’s widespread racism, as evidenced by Desean Terry’s remarks to a coworker (Karen Pittman). “There is a pattern of behavior around here that disadvantages the people of color,” he tells her.
Another area of contention is hinted to in the trailer: a planned expose regarding the network’s behind-the-scenes operations. Steve Carell, Desean Terry, Mark Duplass, Marcia Gay Harden, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Bel Powley, Janina Gavankar, and Tom Irwin reprise their roles from the previous season in The Morning Show 2.
Hansan Minhaj, Tara Karsian, Julianna Margulies, Greta Lee, Ruairi O’Connor, and Valeria Golino are among the new cast members for this season.
