Aamir Khan has always been open about his struggles, and his latest revelation is no different. In a recent conversation with Nana Patekar on Zee Music Company’s YouTube channel, Aamir shared his feelings about being ‘insecure’ about his height during the early days of his career.
Aamir Khan Opens Up About His Insecurities Due To Short Height
Standing at 5 feet, 5 inches, Aamir admitted that his height made him question whether he would be accepted as a Bollywood leading man. “Yes, I did. I used to feel that what if people don’t accept me because of my height. This was my fear. But later, I realised that all of this does not matter at all. But at that time, some kind of insecurity creeps in,” he revealed.
In the same interview, the duo discussed their personal habits. Nana spoke about his own lack of discipline, which led Aamir to reflect on his past behaviour. He shared that he might have been ‘undisciplined’ in life but his dedication to work remained strong.
Aamir also spoke about his past habits & admitted to smoking a pipe and drinking excessively late into the night. He proudly added that he has since quit those habits.

This isn’t the first time Aamir has opened up about his confidence issues. While promoting Talaash in 2012, he spoke about being teased with the nickname ‘tingu’ because of his height. Though such remarks initially hurt him, they ultimately motivated him to focus on his acting skills and connect with his audience.
Reflecting on his journey, Aamir said, “The things that stress us out in the beginning, we later realise that these things don’t matter at all. What is important is how honestly you are working and how your work can enchant people, and after that, everything else is unimportant.”
Aamir’s Work Front
After his last film, Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), a remake of Forrest Gump, Aamir took a long break and is set to return to screens soon. While the movie didn’t perform well at the box office, it hasn’t deterred him.
His upcoming projects include Sitaare Zameen Par, a sequel to the 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par, and Lahore 1947, a period drama featuring Sunny Deol.
