SRK’s Unexpected Tech Gift To Aamir Khan Is Pure 90s Nostalgia
As Aamir Khan prepares for his return to the silver screen in Sitaare Zameen Par, he is back in the headlines again — not only because of the film but because of a nostalgic revelation of Shah Rukh Khan. In a recent conversation with Raj Shamani, the actor shared a sweet story from 1996 that is endearing to fans for its honesty and innocence.
“I’m a digitally challenged person,” Aamir Khan said, and shared how SRK gifted him a brand-new Toshiba laptop after a live show they did together.
He also talked about how, at the time, SRK was so ahead of technology and Aamir Khan was still in a warming-up period to the digital world. After he found out Aamir didn’t even own a computer, Shah Rukh — being the great friend he is — decided to purchase a computer not just for him but for Aamir! With all the upgraded latest software and a slick carrying case, it was a full-on King Khan act.
Aamir Has Forgotten the Laptop for Four Years — No Kidding!
And here’s where things get really Aamir.
To be fair, Aamir never even turned on the laptop that SRK gave him. In fact, he completely forgot about it.
“Four years later, my manager asked me if he could use the laptop. When he showed it to me, I say, ‘Oh! That’s what Shah Rukh gave me!'” Aamir recounted with a laugh.
But, of course, the laptop did not turn on.
“That laptop didn’t even turn on,” he added, emphasising how much time had gone by without it being turned on or used.

Aamir Khan’s return is with Sitaare Zameen Par directed by RS Prasanna, releasing June 20, 2025, starring Genelia Deshmukh. The film promises a new, fresh, and heartwarming story and features a diverse and young group of newcomers. After a lukewarm response from Laal Singh Chaddha, it will be our last emotional drama to behold.
The actor is also making waves down South with a reported role in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie, imprinted against the legend that is Rajinikanth. If reports are to be believed, the action thriller also has Nagarjuna, Upendra, Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan.
