‘Aapki Film Nahi Chal Rahi Toh Galti Aapki Hai’: Akshay Kumar Opens Up On His Consecutive Flops. Details Inside!

He recalled a time when he had 16 consecutive flops, and another time when he had eight films in a row that didn't work.

Actor Akshay Kumar has recently opened up on the poor box office performance of his latest film ‘Selfiee’. Despite being a well-known Bollywood actor, the film has not been able to draw enough audiences to the cinemas. Kumar has expressed his belief that if a movie fails to perform well at the box office, it is his responsibility as the lead actor.

The last successful box office outing featuring Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar was the 2021 film ‘Sooryavanshi’, which was part of Rohit Shetty’s ‘cop universe’. The movie starred Akshay opposite Katrina Kaif and also featured cameos by Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh.

Akshay, who has been facing a string of flops, acknowledged his past failures during an interview with Aaj Tak, stating that he has experienced such situations before. He recalled a time when he had 16 consecutive flops, and another time when he had eight films in a row that didn’t work.

According to Hindustan Times, Akshay Kumar said, “This is not happening to me for the first time. In my career, I have had 16 consecutive flops at a time. There was a time when I had eight films in a row that did not work. Now, I have had three-four films in a row that did not work. The thing is that it happens due to your own fault, film ka na chalna (a film not working). The audience has changed, you need to change, you need to dismantle yourself. You have to start again because the audience requires you to see something else.”

Akshay continued, “It is a great alarm, aapki film nahi chal rahi to galti aapki hai (If your films are not working, it is your fault). When your films flop in a row, it is an alarm for you that it is time for you to change. Mai koshish kar raha hun, wahi kar sakta hoon (I am trying to change, that is all I can do).” He also said that he’d like to tell everyone that when films don’t work, the audience must not be blamed. “Do not blame the audience or anyone else. It is my fault, 100%. Aapki film na chalna is not because of the audience. It is because of what you selected. Maybe you have not given the right ingredients in the film.”

Akshay Kumar’s latest release, ‘Selfiee’, hit theaters on February 24 but received a lackluster response, with an opening collection of less than 3 crore on its first day. Despite the disappointing performance, Akshay remains determined to keep entertaining his audience to the best of his abilities.
