It has been revealed that veteran actor Anil Kapoor will not be reprising his role in the sequel to De De Pyaar De due to scheduling conflicts.
According to reliable sources, Kapoor’s commitment to an upcoming project in the YRF Spy Universe took precedence over his involvement in De De Pyaar De 2.
Sources close to the industry disclosed that a significant portion of the filming schedule for De De Pyaar De 2 coincided with Anil Kapoor’s shooting dates for the YRF Spy Universe film.
After Housefull 5, Anil Kapoor Leaves De De Pyaar De 2?
Shedding light on Kapoor’s decision, a source told Bollywood Hungama, “Anil Kapoor wanted to do De De Pyaar De 2, but his commitment with YRF is long term, for multiple films in the fabled Spy Universe designed by Aditya Chopra. When he had to pick between the two, he chose to feature as the head of RAW in the upcoming Spy Films.”
Further details provided by the source revealed that June will also witness Kapoor’s involvement in another project titled Subedaar for a digital platform.
“Subedaar is also there on the floors and Anil will have to shoot for the same in June and parts of July. There was a lot of overlapping, and hence he decided to part ways from De De Pyaar De 2,” the source elaborated.
Anil Kapoor Has A Packed Schedule Ahead
This is not the first instance where Kapoor had to withdraw from a project due to scheduling conflicts. Previously, he had to step down from Welcome To The Jungle and Housefull 5 for similar reasons. Kapoor’s packed schedule also includes roles in War 2 and Alia Bhatt’s Super Solider Film, with filming expected to commence for both YRF Spy Universe films in the latter half of 2024.
R Madhavan In De De Pyaar De 2
Apart from the reports of Anil’s exit, it has been reported that R Madhavan has joined the cast of De De Pyaar De 2.
R Madhavan has been confirmed to play a pivotal role alongside Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh. As reported by Pinkvilla, insider reports stated that Madhavan sees De De Pyaar De 2 as a refreshing change from his usual intense roles. He wants to embrace the opportunity to delve into a lighthearted romantic comedy reminiscent of his previous work in Tanu Weds Manu franchise. After Shaitaan, he will have a face-off with Ajay Devgn once again in this film.
