Akshay Kumar’s Bold Year: A Masterclass in Genre-Hopping
In a year where most stars are playing it safe, Akshay Kumar is playing it bold — across genres, formats, and emotions. Whether through calculated craftsmanship or sheer star power, 2025 has clearly become “The Year of Akshay Kumar”, and the audiences of India seem to agree.
The Year Begins with Skyforce
Kumar started the year with a bang in Skyforce, an aerial action drama with a hefty dose of patriotism. Featuring action-packed flight sequences, visceral nationalism, and relatable storytelling, the film felt like a throwback to his Airlift and Baby days — but with a fresh technical polish.
Kesari Chapter 2 — A Legacy Cemented
Following the success of Skyforce, Kumar took the box office by storm with Kesari Chapter 2. The sequel to the 2019 hit Kesari, it revisited the Battle of Saragarhi’s legacy, focusing on the aftermath. Akshay’s portrayal of Sankaran Nair, an aggressive, justice-seeking lawyer, was widely praised. The film opened to perform decently and had a moderate run at the box office, with storytelling and a patriotic flavour.
Housefull 5 Teaser Drops — Internet Reacts
Just when fans wondered if Akshay could change genres again, he dropped the teaser for Housefull 5, which quickly went viral. Returning to his goofy comedy roots, Kumar appeared completely at ease amidst mistaken identities and high-seas hijinks, surrounded by an all-star cast. The teaser’s release on the 15th anniversary of the Housefull franchise was a masterstroke, blending nostalgia with fresh chaos. Fans took to X (formerly Twitter), declaring it “classic Akshay in peak comedy mode”.
From Patriotism to Punchlines — Why Akshay’s Strategy Works
Very few actors can seamlessly transition from courtroom dramas to slapstick comedy in just 90 days. Akshay Kumar’s chameleon-like ability to shift genres while maintaining a commercial audience is the secret behind his sustained relevance over the years.
