Akshay Kumar, Emraan Hashmi’s Driving Licence remake, Selfiee headed for digital premiere?

Selfiee will most likely not be released in theatres.

Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi made a significant news on January 12th, when they revealed that they’ll be working together for the first time on a film called Selfiee, the official Bollywood version of the smash Malayalam film Driving Licence. Furthermore, the Selfiee announcement video went viral and was widely praised for the creative concept with which they broke the news, as well as the method in which the first marriage of two prominent stars was announced. The original Malayalam film starred Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the roles of Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi, respectively.

However, it may be best if fans of Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi, as well as those excitedly anticipating a huge two-hero Bollywood film, limit their expectations. Selfiee will most likely not be released in theatres, according to a well-placed industry source who spoke exclusively to BollywoodLife. That’s right, you read that correctly. The film has been developed for an OTT release, and will most likely launch directly on Disney+ Hotstar later this year, according to our source, with filming slated to begin later this month.

Isn’t it a little disheartening if this turns out to be true, because a huge two-hero Bollywood film, especially one that comes after such a long time, deserves a big-screen release, doesn’t it?
