Akshay Kumar, Govinda, and Paresh Rawal, who brought their comic genius to Bhagam Bhag in 2006, might be reuniting for a sequel. The original film, directed by Priyadarshan, was a major hit and has since gained cult status.
Fans still enjoy its humour, with memorable scenes and dialogues often circulating as memes. Now, two decades later, sources have confirmed that Akshay Kumar is working to bring Bhagam Bhag 2 to life.
Akshay Kumar Has Acquired The Rights To Make A Sequel
Sources close to the development told Pinkvilla that Akshay has secured the rights to Bhagam Bhag from Shemaroo, signalling his intention to develop the sequel.
“Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhag, and Garam Masala are three of the most special films for Akshay Kumar,” a source revealed.
Akshay is said to have already sorted out the franchise rights for both Hera Pheri and Bhagam Bhag, and the sequel is now in the early stages of development. A fresh team of writers has been brought in to craft the story.
Script Work On Bhagam Bhag 2 Has Started
The most exciting part of this news is the potential reunion of the original trio. Akshay, Govinda, and Paresh Rawal are expected to return to their iconic roles, much to the delight of fans.
The source further added, “Three comic legends in the same film will be a treat for cinema-going audiences, and the idea is to crack a script that does justice to the legacy of their work in the past. The scripting work has just started, as the germ of an idea for Bhagam Bhag 2 is already in place. Akshay will be collaborating with another producer on the film and the details have been kept under wraps for now.”
If everything goes according to plan, Bhagam Bhag 2 could start filming by the end of 2025, with a planned release in 2026. A director will be chosen once the script is finalised.
Akshay Kumar’s Work Front
Talking about his work front, Akshay Kumar is busy with several other projects. He is currently working on Housefull 5 and will soon begin filming. He also has Sky Force, Welcome To The Jungle and Bhooth Bangla. Additionally, Akshay will be seen in Jolly LLB 3 & a film based on C Sankaran Nair by Karan Johar.
