Akshay Kumar Recalls Father’s Death, Makes Public Health Appeal For PSA Screening At Conclave

Akshay Kumar isn’t new to using a public platform for a larger message, but his latest appearance struck a deeply personal chord. At a recent Conclave conversation with journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, the actor visibly choked up while speaking about the loss that still defines him: the death of his father. What began as a candid reflection quickly turned into a pointed appeal for men to prioritise preventive health screenings, specifically the PSA test used as part of prostate health evaluation.

The moment landed with the kind of silence that only real grief commands. Kumar, who has often projected an unshakeable on-screen toughness, sounded far more vulnerable as he described the emotional weight of losing his “everything”.

The Latest Update: Akshay’s Message To Men Above 50

Recalling his father’s passing, Akshay told the audience, “I lost the most important person in my life, my father. Whenever I talk about him, I say that I lost him. He was everything to me.”

He then shared the detail that turned his personal story into a public warning. Kumar said his father died at 67 after battling prostate cancer, and the family did not fully understand the urgency of early screening. “Why did I lose him? Because I didn’t know that after the age of 50 or 55, you have to get your PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen test) checked,” he said.

Driving home the point about awareness and routine preventive care, Kumar added, “We didn’t get the education that getting your PSA checked is very important for every person, every year.”

He ended with a direct call to action for the room, and for anyone listening beyond it: “I want to tell all the people here, all the listeners, those who have gone beyond the age of 50, please get your PSA checked.”

During the same conversation, Kumar also underlined the prevalence of the illness, saying, “Prostate cancer is very common. After every third person, a man has prostate cancer. So getting checked is a very important thing to do.” Stressing what early diagnosis can change, he added, “You can save your life. Not only your life, you can save your whole family’s life.”
