Akshay Kumar has responded to Jaya Bachchan’s remark on his 2017 film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. The veteran actress recently said she had ‘reservations’ about watching a film with that kind of title. Now, Akshay has addressed the comment calmly and respectfully.
Akshay Kumar On Jaya Bachchan’s Recent Comment
At a recent event for his upcoming film Kesari Chapter 2, a reporter asked him about Jaya’s statement. Akshay replied, “Agar unhone kaha hai to phir sahi hoga mujhe nahi pata. Agar Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, ek aisi film banake maine koi galat kaam kiya hai to phir agar wo keh rahi hai to sahi hoga.”
Jaya Bachchan made the comment at the India TV conclave a few days ago. She questioned the film’s title and also said it was a flop. On stage, she asked, “Yeh koi naam hai? Is that really a name?” She then asked the audience who would go watch a film like that. Only a few people raised their hands. She responded, “Yeh toh flop hai.”
Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was a satirical drama with a social message. It highlighted sanitation issues in rural India and the problem of open defecation. Akshay starred alongside Bhumi Pednekar in the film. Despite the unusual title, the film connected with audiences and performed well at the box office.
Akshay Gears Up For The Release Of Kesari Chapter 2
Meanwhile, Akshay is now gearing up for Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story Of Jallianwala Bagh. The film is directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and based on the book The Case That Shook The Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. The story explores what happened after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and the legal battle that followed.
The film is backed by Hiroo Yash Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Amritpal Singh Bindra, and Anand Tiwari. It’s expected to be a major release.
Akshay will lead the film in a powerful role. Fans are already excited to see him in another historical story. Kesari Chapter 2 will hit theatres on April 18, 2025.
