About C Sankaran Biopic
According to sources, the film is an adaptation of the book The Case That Shook The Empire, written by Nair’s great-grandson Raghu Palat and his wife Pushpa Palat. The book chronicles Nair’s historic legal battle against Michael Francis O’Dwyer, the then Lt governor of Punjab and one of the key planners of the brutal attack on unarmed civilians in 1919.
The film is said to be a period drama, set in the 1920s and 1930s, and will showcase the events that led to Nair’s resignation from the Viceroy’s Executive Council in protest of the massacre, and his subsequent lawsuit against O’Dwyer in London. The film will also explore the personal and professional lives of Nair and his family, as well as the political and social scenario of the time.
The film is expected to release in 2024 and will be a tribute to the unsung hero who placed India firmly on the road to constitutional freedom.
