Bollywood star Alia Bhatt has announced her collaboration with Prime Video as an executive producer for the upcoming Amazon Original Series ‘Poacher‘. The series, created, written and directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Richie Mehta, is based on true events and exposes the biggest ivory smuggling network in India.

Bhatt, who is also the founder of Eternal Sunshine Productions, said that she was honored to be part of this project, which tackles the urgent issue of wildlife crime and its impact on the environment. She said that the series moved her deeply, especially knowing that it was inspired by real incidents that reveal the brutal crimes happening in the forests. She expressed her hope that ‘Poacher‘ would serve as an eye-opener and a call to action for the viewers to be more compassionate and considerate towards all living beings.

Alia Bhatt also helps raise awareness about relevant causes such as environmental sustainability, animal welfare and mitigating human-animal conflict through her platform, Coexist. She also promotes sustainable fashion through her initiative, Mi Wardrobe is Su Wardrobe.

Poacher features a stellar cast that includes Nimisha Sajayan, Roshan Mathew and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in the lead roles. The series is produced by QC Entertainment, the company behind the hit film ‘Get Out’, in association with Suitable Pictures, Poor Man’s Productions and Eternal Sunshine Productions.
