Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next after Salman Khan’s Inshallah was shelved is Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. It’s one of those very rare occasions when we know two projects of Sanjay Leela Bhansali because he’s been a very exclusive person having one movie at a time.
Bhansali Production’s Twitter post read, “On this auspicious day, we are delighted to make your Diwali happier by announcing our next endeavor.”
For those unknown, Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra might be based on 1952’s film with the same name. It was directed by Vijay Bhatt and starred Meena Kumari, Bharat Bhushan in lead roles. The story of that film revolved around the lives of Baiju and Tansen. In the story, Baiju challenges Tansen for a musical duet competition in Akbar’s court. There were rumours that Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan will be seen in the film but yesterday Ajay Devgn’s name has raised strong doubts.
“After the release of #GangubaiKathiawadi on 11 Sep 2020, Sanjay Leela Bhansali to make his most ambitious film project…Titled #BaijuBawra…Revenge story of a maverick maestro…#Diwali2021 release,” trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
As announced, Baiju Bawra will be releasing during Diwali 2021 and that’s the same period when Deepika Padukone has her film slated to release on the epic Mahabharat.
