Alia Bhatt is expanding her producer footprint again, and this time, it comes with a title that feels like a personal pep talk. On March 19, 2026, the actor announced Don’t Be Shy, a Prime Video Original movie that she will produce alongside her sister, Shaheen Bhatt, under their banner Eternal Sunshine Productions.
The announcement was unveiled in Mumbai during Prime Video’s 2026 slate presentation, where Don’t Be Shy was positioned as a young, warm coming of age romantic comedy with a clear female-forward lens. The project adds to Eternal Sunshine’s growing film and series pipeline, and cements Alia’s intent to back stories beyond her on-screen work.
The Latest Update On Don’t Be Shy
Don’t Be Shy is written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji. The story follows Shyamili ‘Shy’ Das, a 20-year-old who believes she has her life perfectly figured out until an unpredictable turn sends everything spiralling out of her control. Prime Video’s first materials also frame the film as a friendship and growing up story, anchored in humour and heart.
The collaboration comes with a clear creative statement from Alia, who spoke about why the script stood out to her. “At Eternal Sunshine, we’ve always wanted to back stories that feel honest and voices that feel their own,” she said while announcing the film as a Prime Video project. Calling it a meaningful title for her banner, Alia added that the film connected with them because of its “sincerity and coming-of-age lens,” while also praising Mukerji’s “passion and energy.”
Prime Video India’s Originals leadership also underlined the tone the film is aiming for. “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt on this extremely fun yet warm romantic comedy, with a remarkable character like Shy Das at its heart,” said Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals, Prime Video, India. He also noted that the film will feature music by Ram Sampath.
For Alia, Don’t Be Shy continues a producer run that has already included the Netflix feature Darlings (2022) and Jigra, as she steadily builds Eternal Sunshine into a talent-led storytelling home.

Alia’s recent slate, as reflected in the filmography available right now, includes Darlings (2022), which released on Netflix, and the theatrical fantasy epic Brahmastra (2022). She also featured in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), a major turning point in her career.
On the upcoming front, she has multiple big-ticket theatrical titles listed. These include Alpha (2026), an action project in Yash Raj Films’ spy universe directed by Shiv Rawail, with Sharvari, Bobby Deol, and Anil also named in available listings.
